Popular Windows imaging utility Qimage has just been updated to a new version, v2008.100, we hear from author Mike Chaney today.
If you're not already familiar with Qimage, it's a program we've mentioned many times on this news page, and one which we rate as one of the most consistently useful (and frequently improved) shareware imaging programs we've discovered. We use it regularly at the Imaging Resource, and its features range from printing (the original forte and reason behind the program's existence) through image editing, to filtering, batch-processing, management, comparison, slide-shows and more.
Qimage v2008.100 is said to focus mainly on performance, with improvements to the program's memory management allowing users to work with much larger photos. The update also includes some minor bug fixes over previous versions, although we don't have specific details as to the changes in question.
A demo of Qimage can be downloaded for a 30-day trial, and the full program is available now to purchase in three versions - either Lite ($34.95), Professional ($49.95), or Studio ($89.95). Details on the differences between the three versions can be found on the Qimage website. A copy on CD can be purchased for a further premium of $10. Existing customers get free lifetime upgrades for their version, and can also opt to upgrade to a higher version of the program for the price difference between the version they have, and the version they desire. The program is available only on the Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, and Vista platforms.
