Consumer electronics giant Sony is demonstrating a new concept for an environmentally friendly digital camera, says a report from Agence France-Presse / Yahoo! News.
Adding to several similarly themed products that the company showed last June, the Sony Odo Twirl n' Take is shaped rather like a pizza cutter, and charged with much the same motion you'd use to cut a slice of pizza. As the device is rolled across a surface, the wheel at the end powers a small generator. Fifteen seconds of this motion yields enough charge to capture one photo, which must be viewed on a computer since the Twirl n' Take has no built-in display.
As with the existing Odo products that Sony has previously demonstrated, there are no immediate plans to commercialize the Twirl n' Take, with Sony suggesting that the designs are aimed at promoting environmental awareness.
