Mea culpa. I know we said we were going to be posting the review for the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6, but it's just not ready.
In the meantime, we have reviewed a production sample of a pretty contentious lens: the Sony 16-105mm f/3.5-5.6. I went out on a limb to suggest that the pre-production sample we reviewed met or exceeded the capability of Sony's more expensive Sony 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 Carl Zeiss. Sony has corrected this assessment for me by fine-tuning the lens for maximum sharpness in the center, with some increased corner softness as a result. Read our updated review of the 16-105mm for the whole story. Coming up next, we really will turn our attention to Canon's larger zoom lenses: the 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6, and the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS. As well, we have some updated information for the highly contentious Sony 18-200 f/3.5-6.3. Stay tuned! - Andrew
