PRESS RELEASE: Open Door Networks Updates Mac Envision

iPhone app sparks Mac app's revival

ASHLAND, Ore. -- Nov. 6 -- Open Door Networks today announced version 1.2 of its Envision Web-image browser for Macintosh. The new version is the latest effect of an "Envision revival" brought about by the success of iEnvision, the iPhone and iPod touch version of the product. Envision for Macintosh, version 1.2, available immediately, provides greatly enhanced integration between the Mac and iPhone releases, among other new features.

iEnvision, chosen as one of the "Top 10 iPhone apps to show off with," has proven a popular way to view a wide array of Web-based images on the iPhone and has spawned a number of related iPhone applications under the "Envi" moniker (including most recently Space Envi Deluxe, "an infinite space museum in your pocket"). iEnvision's popularity has resulted in renewed interest in the original Mac product, which was aimed mainly at Mac users hooking their computers up to large displays and then-novel HDTVs.

"Envision on the Mac was a bit ahead of its time," said Alan Oppenheimer, president of Open Door Networks. "It's ironic that it took the diminutive iPhone to revive interest in a product originally intended for large-screen Macs and HDTV's. With many more people also now hooking up those HDTVs, it's great to see doubly-renewed interest in Envision for Macintosh."

Both Envision and iEnvision include a large indexed set of "Web shows" that display images from particular Web sites and categories as automated, full-screen slide shows. Show categories include art, astronomy, comics, children's books, news and more. Envision also lets users create and tune their own Web shows, which can then be published and imported into iEnvision on the iPhone.

New features of Envision 1.2 include:

• Integrated publishing of Web shows to the iPhone, via MobileMe (.Mac)

• iPhone-sized display window options, show-creation hints and other features to help with iPhone show development

• Many new Web shows, including those from the iPhone version

• Improved transition effects on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

• Universal application

• Bug fixes

The 1.2 update is free to all current Envision users and as a 30-day trial version for new users. The product can be downloaded fromhttp://www.opendoor.com/envision/. Details of iEnvision and related iPhone "Envi" products, are available at http://we-envision.com.
