Olympus America has today announced firmware version 1.3 for the company's flagship E-3 digital SLR, as well as a firmware update for the ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-54mm 1:2.8-3.5 II lens.
According to the company, Olympus E-3 firmware v1.3 has the following changes:- Allow E-3 users to select the AF target by pressing the arrow keys
- Improve AF accuracy when using fast lenses with f2.0 aperture
- Improve C-AF performance
- Improve battery life when using the HLD-4 battery holder
The firmware can be updated through Olympus' Master or Studio software, and instructions on the update process are on the Olympus website. The company notes that the update process does reset all camera settings to factory defaults, and hence recommends users to manually record the camera settings before updating their firmware.
At the same time, the company has announced a firmware update for the ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-54mm 1:2.8-3.5 II lens. It benefits from the following fix: - Correction of the indication of the focal length on the zoom-ring and the Exif data (except WIDE/TELE-end).
