Fuji: Two new J-series digicams

Fujifilm today kicks off a raft of pre-PMA digital camera announcements with two new models for its FinePix J-series.
The Fujifilm FinePix J20fd has a 3x optical zoom lens and a ten megapixel CCD image sensor, and offers sensitivity ranging as high as ISO 1,600 equivalent at full resolution. Images and movies are framed and reviewed on the Fujifilm J20fd's 2.7" LCD display, and stored on SD / SDHC cards or in 20MB of built-in memory. The Fuji J20fd includes a three-mode autofocus system with face detection, and offers shutter speeds from 8 to 1/2000 second. Apertures in the Fujifilm FinePix J20 range from a minimum of f/3.1 to a maximum of f/14.1 at telephoto. These are all controlled automatically, with the Fujifilm J20's sixteen scene modes catering to photographers wanting a modicum more control over their images. The Fuji J20 is also capable of recording videos with sound at resolutions of VGA or below. Power comes from the Fuji FinePix J20's NP-45 Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. The Fujifilm FinePix J250W, meanwhile, couples its ten megapixel CCD image sensor with a 5x optical zoom lens. As well as its ISO 1,600 equivalent sensitivity at full resolution, the J250W includes true mechanical image stabilization. Images and movies are framed and reviewed on the Fujifilm J250W's 3.0" LCD display, and stored on SD / SDHC cards or in 23MB of built-in memory. The Fuji J250W includes an autofocus system with face detection or center AF modes, and offers shutter speeds from 8 to 1/2000 second. Apertures in the Fujifilm FinePix J250 range from a minimum of f/3.3 to a maximum of f/8.0 at telephoto. These are all controlled automatically, with the Fujifilm J250's sixteen scene modes catering to photographers wanting a modicum more control over their images, and an SR Auto scene recognition function offering automatic selection from a subset of available scene modes. The Fuji J250 is also capable of recording videos with sound at resolutions of VGA or below. Power comes from the Fuji FinePix J250's NP-45 Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. Both the FinePix J20 and J250feature Fujifilm’s new SR Auto (Automatic Scene Recognition), which enables the cameras to intelligently recognize six types of scenes automatically. For each picture taken in this mode, the cameras will optimize the ideal exposure, focus, white balance and ISO for the scene to ensure the best quality picture is captured with ease. Fujifilm’s renowned Face Detection Technology also comes standard on both J-series models. The FinePix J20 is available in black and silver, while the FinePix J250 is available in black.
