PHANFARE.GIF PRESS RELEASE: Phanfare Photon Sends Photos from iPhone to Facebook

Award-winning iPhone app now lets users post multiple photos and entire albums to Facebook.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Photo and video sharing service, Phanfare, announces that the latest release of Phanfare Photon, its award-winning iPhone application, is available today in the Apple App Store. This new update now adds the ability to send multiple photos and even entire albums from the Phanfare service to Facebook, so users can share their pictures with their Facebook network of friends while maintaining an archival copy on Phanfare's secure, cloud-based servers. This version of Photon also adds several important features to help users manage a lifetime of photos and videos.

In his blog, Phanfare CEO, Andrew Erlichson, comments on the significance of the Facebook integration. "You can already send photos to Facebook from your iPhone using the Facebook iPhone app, but Facebook is not archival. They throw away more than 90 percent of the data from your photos when they downsample and compress your images. Phanfare retains the whole image and any edits you make."

"Phanfare is intended to hold your entire photo and video collection," Erlichson continues. "I have a lot more friends on Facebook than I have on Phanfare and while I love to share a small subset of my photos with my wider Facebook network, only my closer friends and family have access to my whole photo and video collection on Phanfare."

For several months, Phanfare users have been able to automatically post updates about new albums to their Facebook account, but this feature now lets the user's Facebook friends tag and comment on the photos. In addition to integrating with Facebook on the iPhone, Phanfare users can also share photos with Facebook from any computer using the Phanfare's browser-based interface. The new version of Photon also gives users more control on how their collection of photos and videos is organized, by allowing them to rearrange the content in their albums using wiggle mode, as well as move and copy items between albums. New brightness and contrast controls further enhance Photon's already extensive set of non-destructive image enhancement tools.

PC Magazine recently called Phanfare Photon, "the best photo-sharing iPhone app to date." ReadWriteWeb echoed these sentiments, stating that "Phanfare's Photon is currently the best photo sharing and photo management app on the iPhone." Phanfare stores over 121 terabytes of photos and videos and serves over 500,000 consumers per month. Phanfare offers 1-GB of free storage to all users. Premium membership, which includes unlimited storage and substantial discounts on prints, photo books and cards, is available for $54.95/year.
