Handsome and practical, the Canon PowerShot A1000 IS makes a good first impression.
The more time you spend with it, the better that impression gets. The PowerShot A1000 has all that's great about the Canon A-series, including AA-battery compatibility, a large screen plus an optical viewfinder, easy to use controls, and Canon's typically great image output.
A recent switch to a button for Playback mode makes the Canon A1000 into a shooting-priority camera, too, which frequent photographers prefer because they miss fewer shots.
