In an email to Kodak Gallery members today, Kodak announced that members must make qualifying annual minimum purchases to maintain their albums on the service.
Members storing images that require 2GB or less of storage must "make annual minimum purchases totaling at least $4.99." And members storing over 2GB must "spend $19.99 annually to continue storage of your photos."
In the email Kodak warns, "Because you have not met the minimum purchase requirement established by our new storage policy, your stored photos may be deleted from your Gallery account if you do not act soon."
The email then reports the member's current status as well as a deletion date (roughly two months in the future) after which the currently stored images will no longer be available.
"Once you've met the $4.99 purchase requirement, prior to 05/16/2009," the email continues, "your photos will be safely stored for one year from the date of that qualifying purchase. Thereafter, just make annual Gallery purchases totaling at least $4.99 to preserve your stored photos."
The Terms of Service have been modified to reflect the change.
