London, UK-based Anthropics Technology will soon be releasing an update to its flagship portrait retouching software Portrait Professional, in both the Standard and Studio Edition variants.
IR newsletter editor Mike Pasini reviewed the program a couple of iterations ago as version 6.0, and came away rather impressed. Last July, Anthropics released a significant update to the software - Portrait Pro 8 - with added features including finer-grained control over the eyes and mouth, plus hair retouching capabilities, and the ability to change eye color.
Through Friday, May 15th Portrait Professional 8 is selling for a discount on the company's website, priced at $69.95 for the Standard edition (list price $79.95), or $99.95 for the Studio edition (list price $119.95). Either price includes a free upgrade to the equivalent Portrait Professional 9 edition upon its upcoming release, currently targeted to be before the end of May.
There's even more potential for savings though, because upon release, pricing for the new version will be somewhat higher. The new list price for Portrait Professional 9 Standard will be $99.95, meaning that currently you can save $30. Given the significant changes in the new version, Portrait Professional 9 Studio will list for $149.95 - meaning you can save a full $50 by buying early. Either option represents a one-third discount off regular pricing.
Portrait Pro 9 includes a new skin enhancement technique which the company is patenting, feeling that it offers a significant improvement over existing techniques. The Studio edition also adds the ability to function as a Photoshop plugin, among other pro-oriented features. We'll have more information on Portrait Professional 9 on launch day. In the meantime, a free trial version of PortraitProfessional 8 is available for download, should you be interested in looking over the existing version.
