Sony Europe, Japan: Two new W-series digicams

Sony Corp. has simultaneously announced two closely-related additions to its Cyber-shot W-series digital camera lineup for the European and Japanese markets.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W180 and DSC-W190 are near identical save for the resolution of their 1/2.3" Sony Super HAD CCD image sensors. The DSC-W180 includes a 10.1 megapixel imager, while the DSC-W190 boosts this just slightly to 12.1 megapixels. Both cameras share the same compact body design with 35-105mm 3x optical zoom lens, 230k dot 2.7" LCD display, and a built-in flash strobe. The Sony W180 and W190 store their images in 12MB of internal memory, or on Memory Stick Duo cards. Power comes from a proprietary InfoLithium pack said to yield 290 shots on a charge. Mac users take note - the Sony W190 and W180 ship with Picture Motion Browser v4.2.01 software for the Windows platform only, so you'll need to provide your own software with which to browse and edit images. Pricing has not been announced for either model, however the new duo of W-series digicams should ship from July 2009.
