Kodak Zx1 firmware v1.06 adds compatibility with the Windows 7 operating system, as well as improving audio performance. These same two changes are made in Kodak Zi8 firmware v1.05, along with a couple of other changes. The Zi8's digital zoom function is said to have been improved, and Kodak also mentions unspecified improvements to the user interface.
The Kodak Zx1 offers 60fps 1,280 x 720 pixel recording in a weather-resistant body with 2.0-inch LCD display, and draws power from two AA batteries. The Kodak Zi8 drops the weather resistance, but adds a larger 2.5" LCD display, 30fps 1,920 x 1,080 pixel recording, and a macro mode, and changes the battery type to a proprietary KLIC-7004 lithium-ion rechargeable. Both cameras record to SD / SDHC cards, and include both USB data and HDMI high-def video connectivity.
