Tamron: EF-mount SP AF17-50mm VC availability

Tamron Japan has announced the upcoming launch of its SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II1 VC LD Aspherical [IF] lens for Canon EF mount cameras.
Announced for both Nikon and Canon digital SLRs at the start of September, the SP AF17-50mm f/2.8 began shipping for Nikon cameras with built-in AF motors around a month ago. According to the company's latest press release, the Canon EF-mount version will go on sale in Japan from 29 October 2009. Pricing for the Canon variant of the lens has not been announced, and we don't currently have information on availability outside of Japan.
