Described in the company's CX-News web magazine, which covers Sony's semiconductor and LCD news, the new panel has VGA resolution in a three-inch form factor, with a built-in driver. The Sony ACX396AKS panel uses a low-temperature polysilicon transistor design with an LED backlight, and uses Window-On technology to apply the customer's protective window directly to the LCD surface, removing the air gap that otherwise can increase reflections.Viewing angle for the panel is 160 degrees, both horizontally and vertically. Contrast ratio is 800:1, and the panel can display 100% of the sRGB color gamut. The VGA (640 x 480 pixel) resolution translates to a total of 921,600 red, green or blue dots, and the panel offers 271 pixels per inch.
