JACKSON, Mich.– The Photo Imaging Education Association (PIEA), a PMA member association, will provide a full day of photography and adventure with the PIEA Photo Safari at Getty Museum and Venice Beach, Saturday, Feb. 20, from 1:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event is an annual highlight of the PIEA 2010 Education Conference, Feb. 19-22, 2010, at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, Calif.

The Photo Safari begins at the exhibits of the Getty Museum, featuring displays such as “In Focus: The Worker”; “A Record of Emotion: The Photographs of Frederick H. Evans”; and “Urban Panoramas: Opie, Liao, Kim.” (Note: Photos cannot be taken at the museum.)

Then the bus heads to Venice Beach for photo taking opportunities. Attendees will find plenty to photograph under the warm sun and along the breaking waves of the Southern California coastline.

Marcia Rubenstein from the Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara, Calif., will be offering shooting tips on the bus ride to and from the two destinations. The bus departs from the Best Western Raffle Inn & Suites at 1:15 p.m., and returns to the hotel by 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $45 per member and $55 per nonmember.

PMA 2010 General Information

  • This will be the 86th annual PMA International Convention and Trade Show.

  • The PMA International Convention and Trade Show is the largest annual photo imaging trade show in the world for the estimated $80 billion worldwide industry. It is open to business owners and executives in the photo imaging industry and to press and media representatives. It is not open to the public. PMA 2010 takes place Feb. 21-23, 2010, at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, Calif., USA.

  • There will be approximately 400 exhibitors.

  • The convention will feature more than 300 speakers and chairpersons, and offers approximately 150 educational sessions, covering topics such as digital imaging, employee training, business management, and sales and marketing. Select sessions are spoken in Spanish and German. Debuting features of this PMA convention include the Pro Photographer Business Boot Camp and the DIMA Brand Boot Camp.

  • Five allied imaging groups – the Digital Imaging Marketing Association® (DIMA®), the Professional School Photographers Association International™ (PSPA™), the Professional Picture Framers Association™ (PPFA®), PIEA, and the Sports Photographers Association of America (SPAA®) – hold their annual meetings and conference sessions in conjunction with the PMA convention. Colocating will be thePrintFest Expo Pavilion & Cross Media West Conference, an event for digital printers and direct marketing firms.
