PRESS RELEASE: Joby to Unveil New Products at Macworld Expo
Joby expands its Gorillamobile line with the Gorillamobile for iPod touch and launches a new update to its popular Gorillacam iPhone app
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – February 11, 2010 – Joby, Inc., the world renowned designer of the revolutionary Gorillapod™ flexible camera tripod, is pleased to introduce new additions to its Gorillamobile™ line at this year’s Macworld Conference & Expo, February 9-13 in San Francisco, CA. Joby will showcase its entire suite of products from the Gorillapod, Gorillamobile, and Gorillatorch™ lines at the Joby booth (#1659, Moscone Convention Center – South Hall) demonstrating its commitment to making innovative, well designed products that enhance the creative and active capabilities of consumer electronics.
Building on the success of the Gorillamobile product line, Joby is pleased to announce the Gorillamobile for iPod touch, further extending the revolution around mobile device interactivity. The Gorillamobile’s flexible, wrappable legs enable the user to securely mount his or her mobile device to virtually any surface, allowing limitless functionality and positioning capability for movie-viewing, music-listening, photo-taking, and more. With four interchangeable quick-release adapters, including a custom engineered, protective iPod touch case, the Gorillamobile for iPod touch supports one’s entire collection of mobile devices – iPods™, mobile phones, cameras, and more./p>
The Gorillamobile for iPod touch weighs just 4.4 ounces, is 8-inches tall, and will be available globally by the end of March. Like the Joby iPhone cases, the iPod touch cases will also be available for purchase independently, for consumers who already own a Gorillapod and would like to extend its functionality to their iPod touch.
IIn addition to the tangible Gorillamobile products, Joby’s Gorillamobile family includes the Gorillacam, a free iPhone application (built by AppTight) that extends the capabilities of the iPhone’s native camera to include a self-timer, time-lapse, continuous rapid-fire shooting, and other photographic features, and has achieved over 1.2 million downloads since its launch in the AppStore in December. Since the original app launched, Joby has received numerous feature requests, has listened to this feedback, and is excited to announce that the best photography app is now even better! The new, updated version, Gorillacam 1.1, now includes 4x digital zoom, anti-shake, and tap-to-focus (for 3GS) features, in addition to all of the beloved original Gorillacam features, and is available for free download on iTunes today.
Also new at the Joby Macworld booth this year is the Gorillatorch flashlight. In a shift from traditional flashlight design, the Gorillatorch features a 65 lumen ultra-bright CREE LED lamp mounted on Joby’s award-winning ball-and-socket legs with powerful magnetic feet, enabling the user to illuminate any target, hands-free. The Gorillatorch is now available in blue, orange, and yellow, in addition to gray./p>
