Just a day after the annual PMA show is over, Pentax has unveiled a refreshed version of its previous Optio X70 digital camera with an even more powerful zoom lens - the Pentax Optio X90.
The Pentax X90 has the same generous 26mm wide angle as its predecessor, but the zoom now reaches out a full 26x to a whopping 676mm telephoto. As you'd expect, the Pentax X90 also offers stabilization - specifically, a sensor shift mechanism. The X90 also adds an HDMI output that wasn't in the previous camera, allowing high-definition viewing of images on the latest displays. It also adds compatibility with Eye-Fi cards, configured through the camera's own menu system. One other point of note is that the D-LI106 battery pack used by the Pentax Optio X90 is a change from the previous camera's D-LI92 cell. The Pentax Optio X90 goes on sale from April 2010, priced at around $400. More details can be found in our Pentax X90 preview.
