PRESS RELEASE: New York Institute of Photography Showcases Winners of the NYIP Centennial Photo Challenge
Top 100 images included in slideshow posted to NYIP Website, YouTube and Vimeo
New York, NY (March 8, 2010) – Celebrating 100 years of leadership in photography education this year, The New York Institute of Photography (www.nyi100years.com), America’s oldest and largest photography school, showcases today the top 100 photos chosen as winners of the NYIP Centennial Photo Challenge.
With hundreds of entries from students, graduates, and photographers from all over the world, the NYIP Centennial Photo Challenge quickly became a popular thread with NYIP forum members at http://forum.nyip.com/ . Each entrant was asked to submit to NYIP his or her favorite photo that was taken in the prior year. Entries included a wide variety of subjects including sports, portraits, wildlife, scenic, macro, black-and-white, photojournalism and more.
“In celebration of NYIP’s first 100 years of teaching photography to everyone, we received an outstanding selection of hundreds of contemporary photographs,” said Chuck DeLaney, director of the New York Institute of Photography. “From those entries, it was not easy to narrow it down to the top 100 but the final selection of images is really a celebration of current photographic styles and now these images have been posted for the entire world to see.”
Winners of the NYIP Centennial Photo Challenge can be viewed in a slideshow on NYIP’s Website www.nyi100years.com or here: http://www.youtube.com/newyorkinstitute#p/u/0/48LfXC17_bc and http://vimeo.com/9885123. Although the contest was open to all photographers worldwide, after the final 100 images were selected it was determined that over 80% of the winners were students in NYIP’s Complete Course in Professional Photography.
