Just a year after entering private alpha testing, and four months after unveiling its snazzy new iPhone app, photo sharing startup Divvyshot has been acquired by Facebook.

According to a message posted on the company's website, Divvyshot's staff will join Facebook's engineering team, where they will focus on developing Facebook Photos. Divvyshot's own service will be ceased within the next six weeks, with the site already having been closed to new signups. The iPhone app -- which included unusual features such as the ability to transfer photos between two iPhones simply by placing them together, shaking them, and then acknowledging a prompt -- is also no longer available for download. Event creation will be disabled in two weeks, followed by the disabling of photo uploads two weeks later. By the sixth week, Divvyshot's site will simply redirect to Facebook.

More details can be found on the Divvyshot website.
