Olympus has announced that it will soon launch its new Viewer 2 software globally, as a replacement for the previous Olympus Studio 2 application.
From early May 2010, Olympus Viewer 2 will be available free of charge to existing Studio 2 users, as well as for owners of Olympus' E-series digital SLRs or PEN-series single-lens direct view models. Changes in Olympus Viewer 2 compared to Studio 2 include support for the PEN E-PL1 digital camera, as well as for Microsoft's Windows 7 and Apple's OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating systems. There's also support for Raw files shot using the PL1's Gentle Sepia art filter, as well as the P2's Diorama and Cross Process filters. In the Japanese market, Olympus has indicated that Studio 2 will no longer be available to download after April 27, 2010. The company also recently replaced its Master 2 software with the Olympus [ib] package on the Windows platform. Olympus Master 2 remains available for Mac users shooting with Olympus compact digital cameras, as the company has stated that it does not intend to provide an [ib] equivalent for Mac OS. | | Two (rather low-res) examples of Olympus' Viewer 2 application in use.
