Topaz Labs has announced updates to several of its Photoshop plugins, as well as the release of Fusion Express plugin for Windows.

The Topaz Clean, DeJPEG; and Simplify plugins have all been updated, and bear new version numbers denoting the changes. Topaz Clean v3.0, Topaz DeJPEG v4.0, and Topaz Simplify v3.0 largely share the same common changes across the board. Most notably, the user interface has been redesigned, with all three plugins now featuring collapsible side panels and parameter tabs, allowing the workspace area to be maximized. There's also a new format for presets, including a preview window to demonstrate the effect of each preset. Both Clean V3 and Simplify v3 also include additional default presets. Sliders can now be reset to their default value by simply double-clicking on them. Finally, stability is said to have been improved when processing large images with all three plugins.

Topaz Fusion Express, meanwhile, has now made its Windows debut. Previously available only on the Macintosh platform, Fusion Express allows use of certain Topaz still image plugins with a range of applications that aren't compatible with standard Photoshop plugins -- specifically, Adobe's Photoshop Lightroom, as well as Apple's Aperture and iPhoto. Of course, Aperture and iPhoto are available only on the Mac, and hence the Windows version of Fusion Express is compatible only with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. At launch, Topaz Fusion Express for Windows supports use of the Topaz Adjust, Clean, DeJPEG, Detail, and Simplify plugins in Lightroom. Support for Topaz DeNoise is said to be on the way within the next couple of weeks.

Topaz's entire product line is available on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms. Topaz Fusion is available free of charge to users of compatible Topaz plugins. Topaz Clean and Topaz DeJPEG are each priced at about $30, while Topaz Simplify costs around $40. Free trials are available for most of the company's products, including all those mentioned in this article.
