Taiwan's BenQ Corp. has today announced its new BenQ E1260 digital camera, featuring a built-in high dynamic range function.

The BenQ E1260 features a 4x optical zoom lens that provides focal lengths from a useful 28mm wide angle to a moderate 112mm telephoto. Behind this sits the E1260's twelve megapixel CCD image sensor. The E1260 lacks an optical viewfinder, instead opting solely for a 2.7-inch LCD display.

ISO sensitivity ranges from ISO 100 to 1,600 by default, and can be expanded to as high as ISO 6,400. Other features of the E1260 include a Smart Scene mode that automatically selects one of twelve scene types, auto face tracking capability, smile shutter / blink detection / beauty enhancer functions, a self-portrait mode, and a G-sensor that's used both to orient images, and as an input device.

The BenQ E1260 goes on sale worldwide from May 2010, with two body color choices -- metallic gun-metal gray, or metallic blue. Pricing had not been announced at press time. For more, read or BenQ E1260 preview.
