The Camera Raw and DNG Converter updates finalize the release candidate versions issued a little over a fortnight ago. DNG Converter 6.1 includes just one change, adding support for the Olympus E-600 digital SLR. Adobe Camera Raw 6.1, which is applicable only to Photoshop CS5, Photoshop Elements 8.0, and Premiere Elements 8.0, includes this same change, along with a number of others. The Camera Raw 6.1 update enables the company's new lens correction functionality, adds support for the same raft of new camera models as in the recent Camera Raw 5.7 update for Photoshop CS4, improves control and scrolling responsiveness, and fixes a bug that could cause a program crash on the Mac platform. Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.1, meanwhile, enables the export panel and includes several unspecified bug fixes.
Adobe's new lens correction functionality allows profile-based correction of geometric distortion, chromatic aberration, and lens vignetting. It also allows manual correction of geometric distortion and vertical / horizontal perspective. Users can create their own lens profiles with Adobe's freely available Lens Profile Creator, and a limited number of lens profiles are included by default.
The full list of new camera models supported by Camera Raw 6.1 is as follows:
