One of the smaller pocket long zooms is the 8x lens found in the Panasonic FH20 digital camera.
It's not only wide, starting at 28mm equivalent, it zooms in to a pretty impressive 224mm at telephoto. Panasonic's optical image stabilization helps keep the Lumix FH20's shots steady, and the 2.7-inch LCD looks pretty good in most lighting situations.
