Casio Computer Co. Ltd. has introduced a new digital camera model in the Japanese market that's intended for a very specific demographic indeed -- golf players.
Beyond the new model number, the Casio EXILIM EX-FC160S is absolutely identical to the existing Casio FC150 in terms of hardware specification and exterior styling. The sole differences are to be found in its software, and specifically, in a couple of new golf-related functions. The Casio EX-FC160S can overlay two different types of analysis lines on recorded high-speed videos. One display adds two "swing plane" lines on a side profile shot -- the shoulder and shaft planes. The other display adds four lines on a front profile shot -- two vertical lines outside the player's legs, plus two horizontal lines under the ball, and over the player's head. In addition, the Casio EX-FC160S adds a commentary feature, including information from Japanese Ladies' PGA Tour golfer Chie Arimura. In other respects, the FC160S is similar to the Casio EX-FC150 model which we reviewed earlier this year. More details on that model can be found in our Casio FC150 review.
