Kodak M590: Slim 5x ultracompact, plus 10-inch frame, accessories

Eastman Kodak Co. has today unveiled its EasyShare M590 camera, which the company describes as the world's thinnest to include a 5x optical zoom lens.
The Kodak M590 captures images and 720p high-def movies with a fourteen megapixel CCD image sensor. The M590's lens carries Schneider-Kreuznach branding, and provides focal lengths from a rather tight 35mm-equivalent wide angle to a useful 175mm-equivalent telephoto. Unfortunately, no information on aperture range was available at press time, but we do know that optical image stabilization is included. The Kodak EasyShare M590 offers a 2.7-inch LCD display with 230,000 dot resolution with which to frame and review its images and movies, but doesn't include any form of optical or electronic viewfinder. The EasyShare M590 can store images on either MicroSD or MicroSDHC cards, or 32MB of available internal memory. Power comes courtesy of a Kodak KLIC-7000 lithium-ion battery, and unusually the M590 can also be charged with a standard USB charger. Available from August 2010, the Kodak EasyShare M590 is priced at around $200, and can be purchased in four body colors - silver, red, purple and blue. Alongside the camera, Kodak has also unveiled its new 10-inch Pulse digital frame, priced at around $200, along with Kodak-branded tripods, cases, bags, neck straps, batteries, chargers, and MicroSDHC memory cards.
