Nikon Inc. has released an updated firmware version for its Coolpix P90 digital camera, correcting an issue that could lead to corrupted images in certain circumstances.

Release notes for the Nikon P90 v1.1 update, issued today, include only one change. A problem where the P90's images weren't captured correctly in certain circumstances has been corrected. When capturing single images with manual focus, and using the camera's distortion control function, the Nikon P90 could experience issues when writing the image to flash memory. Firmwave v1.1 is now available on the Nikon USA website.

Announced in February 2009, the Nikon P90 has a twelve megapixel imager, 24x optical zoom lens, image stabilization, and a 3.0" LCD display. The Coolpix P90 stores its images on SD / SDHC cards or in 47MB of built-in memory, and draws its power from an EN-EL5 Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. Priced at about $400, the Nikon Coolpix P90 shipped from March 2009. For more details on the camera, read our Nikon P90 review.
