Japan's Canon Inc. has today announced a delay in shipping three of its upcoming lens models in its home market.

Announced by the company last August, the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM were originally scheduled to be available for Japanese purchase from December 2010, with the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM slated to follow from January 2011. The same availability was planned in the US market, with pricing set at US$7,000 for the 300mm telephoto, US$11,000 for the 400mm telephoto, and US$1,400 for the fisheye.

In the Japanese market, delivery of all three lenses has now been delayed until March 2011. It's important to note that no such announcement has been made in the US market at this time. Also note that the simultaneously-announced Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM lens, Extender EF 1.4X III teleconverter, and Extender EF 2x III teleconverter, are not included in the Japanese delivery delays.
