March 14, 2011 -- Olympus Corporation (the "Company") would like to express our sincere condolences to the victims of the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake on March 11. The effects of the earthquake on the Company's group companies are as follows. -
Damage conditions -
Employees The Company has confirmed that several employees have been slightly injured. -
Buildings and equipment -
Aomori Olympus Co., Ltd. Operation has been stopped temporary there because it cannot procure a part of the materials. -
Shirakawa Olympus Co., Ltd. Operation has been stopped currently there due to damage of the building and the power failure. -
Olympus Medical Systems Corp. Shirakawa Facility Operation has been stopped currently there due to damage of the building. -
Olympus Corporation Sendai Office There is no serious damage in the building and preparation for the business restart is currently underway. The Company is promptly confirming continuously damage conditions other than the above. -
Effects on the Company's business performance The Company is currently investigating detail of damage due to the earthquake. The Company will disclose immediately if serious effects on the Company's business performance are estimated. End of Document
