Currently occupying the flagship position in the company's line of enthusiast digital SLRs, the Sony A580 is one of Sony's most capable cameras yet.
Image quality is about on par with its competition, but the Sony A580 makes advances by employing many new technologies first seen in their Cyber-shot and NEX-series cameras. Features like Sweep Panorama, Multi-frame Noise Reduction, and Auto HDR modes really redefine what you can do, even shooting handheld. Its articulating screen allows easy shooting from above or below, and the Sony A580's Quick AF Live View is faster than nearly any other digital SLR's autofocus, and just as fast as using the optical viewfinder. Also new to the Sony A580 is 1080i movie capture. The Sony A580 is a mature offering, something that was badly needed in Sony's lineup at the enthusiast level.
