Canon Hong Kong quietly introduced a firmware update for the company's EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR some ten days ago, which has yet to appear on the company's other sites worldwide.

Canon 5D Mark II firmware v2.0.9, which has just come to our attention, is available for customers using both the Windows and Mac OS platforms, and includes three changes. Write speeds when using UDMA 7-compatible CompactFlash cards are said to have been improved, and some menu spelling errors corrected in the Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and Thai languages. Finally, the new release corrects an issue with image stabilization being unavailable when Custom Function III-2 "Lens AF Stop Button Function" is set to "IS Start", but the lens attached lacks an AF stop button.

For more details, visit the Canon Hong Kong website pages for the EOS 5D Mark II firmware on either Windows and Mac OS platforms.
