Bilingual German website reviews Canon's PowerShot G1...
Our friends at the digitalkamera.de website in Germany, which is published in both English and German, have now posted their review of Canon's 3.3 megapixel, 3x zoom PowerShot G1 digital camera. How did the G1 fare? "The Canon PowerShot G1 left us with mixed feelings: on the positive side we welcome the extremely useful colour LCD screen, with its ability to turn and swivel and its excellent rendition quality; the flash shoe with its middle contact and additional contact for the transfer of E-TTL flash data; the virtually inexhaustible lithium-ion battery; and the very quick response times (release delay, AF reaction time, display delay). On the negative side the camera lacks up-to-date exposure metering and autofocus controls; the handling needs to be improved to make it easier to hold; the colour rendition is unflattering when used in combination with the internal flash; and the manual focus is impractical." For more on digitalkamera.de's thoughts on the G1, read the full review, accompanied as usual by two standardised sample images courtesy of ComputerFoto magazine.
