"The Canon PowerShot G1 left us with mixed feelings: on the positive side we welcome the extremely useful colour LCD screen, with its ability to turn and swivel and its excellent rendition quality; the flash shoe with its middle contact and additional contact for the transfer of E-TTL flash data; the virtually inexhaustible lithium-ion battery; and the very quick response times (release delay, AF reaction time, display delay). On the negative side the camera lacks up-to-date exposure metering and autofocus controls; the handling needs to be improved to make it easier to hold; the colour rendition is unflattering when used in combination with the internal flash; and the manual focus is impractical."
