DPReview looks at Hoodman, Unity Digital products!

Phil Askey tries out a range of digicam accessories from Hoodman and Unity Digital...
Our friends over at the Digital Photography Review website have been busy of late, posting reviews of a Firewire CF reader, and a variety of covers for LCD display from Hoodman. The first review covers three different Hoodman products at once. First mentioned is the Hoodman LCD Viewscreen Hood, reviewed in its 1.5 - 1.8" H-180 variant: "Overall the Hoodman LCD viewscreen does what it's intended to do, it shades the LCD from direct sunlight and makes it easy to see outdoors, it folds down flat for easy storage and it's pretty inexpensive." Next up is the Hoodman Hoodcap for the Nikon D1 digital camera: "A simple solution which does its job perfectly, at just $19.95 it's cheap enough to have a couple in your camera bag, sling the D1 over your should and don't worry about scratching the screen." And finally for the Hoodman review, the e-clipse E-2000 Laptop Computer Hood: "Ok, so it may look a little wacky but I really like the e-clipse, it makes using a notebook / laptop outdoors easy, it packs down into a fairly small pouch." The second review page looks at the speedy Unity Digital Firewire CompactFlash reader, which costs $150 and offers some incredibly fast file transfers: "Transfer speeds are absolutely unbelievable (virtually ATA 33), having used the device for just a few days I can honestly say it's saved me time and increased my workflow, it's been as solid as a rock with all sorts of different CF cards and not once let me down. I can't imagine ever going back to any type of USB reader. What more can I say, just excellent!"
