French website posts info on Hitachi's first DVD camcorder...
The French-language Objectif Numerique website has posted an article looking at Hitachi's DZ-MV100A camcorder, which was first announced in Japan on June 8th 2000, and features an 8cm DVD-RAM drive and megapixel image sensor. The article, which can be roughly translated using Altavista's free 'BabelFish' translation service, includes a review (the 'test bench' section in Altavista's translation), along with a page full of screenshots, which includes 5 sample photos. (Note that to see the full size samples you should visit the French-language samples page, as otherwise BabelFish will show them as text files. ;)
If you speak French and have a high-bandwidth Internet connection, one other recent item from Objectif Numerique may be of interest. The site has posted videos of interviews with Nikon France's Bernard Denevi. Objectif's Pierre-Alain Buino talks with Denevi about Nikon products such as the Coolpix camera line, D1X and D1H Pro SLRs and the recently announced film scanners, as well as industry trends such as the 'megapixel race' that manufacturers seem to be caught up in. High and low-bandwidth videos are available, as well as an audio-only version.
