SiPix's products begin shipping in the USA! By

SiPix Inc., the spinoff of contract manufacturer SiPix Group which was formed in January 2001, has today announced that its first round of products which were shown at PMA are now shipping in the USA. SiPix reaches the market with three products, of which perhaps the most interesting to readers will be the company's 2.1 megapixel, 39mm-equivalent fixed focal length model which retails for about $230. The SiPix SC-2100 (shown below) features a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels from a 1/2.7" CCD sensor, coupled with a 1.8" color LCD display, CompactFlash storage, built-in 4 mode flash, NTSC/PAL video and USB connectivity and ISO ratings from 80 to 320.
The company is also offering a dual-mode webcam / digital still camera, the 0.3 megapixel iQuest DualCam. The DualCam features a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels from a CCD image sensor, along with NTSC/PAL video and USB connectivity, 3-mode built-in flash, monochrome status LCD display (but no preview/review LCD), 2MB of built-in non-removeable flash memory and a fixed 3.9mm lens. The iQuest DualCam retails for about $90, and is shown in the three images below with its bundled stand.
Finally, the company is also shipping its $150 Pocket Printer A6 (below), which is a monochrome thermal printer with infrared and serial connectivity. The unit is battery operated and weighs 14 ounces (400 grams) with batteries and 5 3/4" (148mm) x 8' 2" (2.5m) paper roll. It includes drivers for Windows 98, 98SE, 2000 and ME, and I/S' IrPrint application for Palm OS.
SiPix's new products are available immediately from a range of retailers both online and offline, such as CompUSA, Staples, Buy.com and more. The company is distributing the lineup through Ingram Micro, Wynit, and D&H.
