Firmware 1.0.0.2 corrects LCD brightness issues...
Canon Japan has today released a new version of firmware on its English website for American and European users of its PowerShot G1 and Pro90 IS digital cameras. Firmware version 1.0.0.2 incorporates the updates from the previous version, as well as a fix for "the occasional occurrence of unusual brightness or darkness in the LCD panel display when the shutter button is pressed halfway in the Tv mode".
The new firmware for the PowerShot G1 and Pro90 IS can be installed on the cameras by either copying files to a formatted CompactFlash card using a CF reader, or by running an installer utility that is included in the update to update the camera over the USB connection. In either case, be sure to follow Canon's instructions to the letter - as always, upgrading firmware without following instructions is a great way to turn your camera into a paperweight. ;)
