DX3700's design rates resolution ahead of optical zoom...
Eastman Kodak Co. will today announce three new digital cameras to its 'EasyShare' series, which was first introduced with the DX3500 and DX3600 digital cameras last April. The new Kodak EasyShare DX3700 is targetted at the entry-level users who are more interested in sensor resolution than an optical zoom. Priced at $399, the camera features a 3.3 megapixel image sensor, fixed focal length lens, and an interesting departure from CompactFlash to the rival MultiMediaCard / Secure Digital format - a first for Kodak. There's also 8MB of built-in memory, video (NTSC/PAL) connectivity, and a macro mode.
All three cameras are compatible with the EasyShare camera dock, which is an optional accessory through which the camera can be recharged and images transferred via USB connection to a PC or Macintosh computer. Since the cameras don't come with the EasyDock by default, a separate USB cable is provided, and non-rechargeable Lithium batteries are included in each bundle.
The full press release announcing all three new cameras can be seen in our news item reporting on the EasyShare DX3900 Zoom. The Kodak EasyShare DX3700 will ship in September 2001 at a price of $399. Full specifications for the camera are already in our database, and highlights follow:
