New digicam looks to share its roots with Konica's Digital Revio KD-200Z...
Our friends at the dcviews.com website have uncovered news of a new digital camera from Minolta Europe. Officially announced on August 31st, the Minolta DiMAGE E203 press release doesn't offer very complete specs, but promises "one of the smallest digital cameras that packs a 3X optical zoom with 2.0 million pixel resolution". The unit looks to be very similar to Konica's Digital Revio KD-200Z in terms of specifications and layout, and potentially they're both sourced from the same company.
The DiMAGE E203 combines its 2 megapixel CCD and 3x optical zoom lens with a compact chassis, real-image optical and 1.5" LCD viewfinders, spot metering capability, 4-mode flash, and Secure Digital storage. Full specifications (at least, those we have from Minolta) can be found in our database...
Our friends at LetsGoDigital.nl in Holland have an image of the camera, so be sure to visit them and see it...
2001-09-06 14:25ET: We have confirmation from Minolta USA that this model will not be sold in the USA. We also now have an image of the DiMAGE E203 to share with you, and have been given more complete specifications which can be found in our database... Now that we have the updated specifications, it seems even more likely that this camera is the same as Konica's KD-200Z in a different chassis - a direct comparison can be seen here.
