A series of new firmware updates released yesterday by Olympus Corp. all have one thing in common: they aim to resolve issues with high-capacity SDXC memory cards.
The new firmware for the Olympus E-5 SLR and four of the company's Micro Four Thirds cameras is said to improve stability with SDXC cards of 48GB or greater capacity. For the E-5, E-P3, and E-PL2, this is the only change stated in the release notes.
For the OIympus E-PL3 and E-PM1, however, there's one further improvement: operation of external strobes using Olympus' Wireless RC mode is said to bave been improved, although the company doesn't specify what this entails.
All five firmware downloads are available immediately, as detailed on the Joint update service for OLYMPUS E-SYSTEM website. Current versions of firmware for each model are now at version 1.3, and in all cases, the new firmware rolls in updates made in previous releases.
