Anyone who's ever tried to photograph an easily distracted child knows how hard it can be to get them to look at the camera for a portrait. Here's an accessory that offers a solution to that problem: Shutter Hugger.
As you can tell by looking at the product images on this page, Shutter Hugger is a stuffed toy accessory that surrounds the front barrel of your digital SLR lens to help attract a child's attention.
Shutter Huggers come in seven different versions: a dalmatian, dinosaur, elephant, giraffe, monkey, panda, and, for the holidays, a Christmas elf. They sell for $19.99 a piece.
More info here.
I haven't actually tried Shutter Huggers out myself yet but, I have to admit, I'm a bit divided by it. While I like the concept, I wonder if it actually might be more scary to a child than amusing?
Also, what's up with the company's latest product: the "Shutter Hugger Mommy - For Smaller Cameras"? There are a lot of dads who use smaller cameras too!
What do IR's readers think of Shutter Hugger? Has anyone tried it? Good idea or bad?
