It's one of the most famous photos in basketball: an iconic shot of Chicago Bulls' superstar Michael Jordan appearing to defy gravity during the 1988 Slam Dunk contest in Chicago.
The image of Jordan lifting off from the free throw line on his way to a colossal dunk was captured by renowned sports photographer Walter Iooss Jr. (See the full photo here.)
In the below video, Iooss, who has shot for Sports Illustrated for over 50 years, explains the sly way in which Jordan tipped him off on where he was going to go with his dunk, helping Iooss capture a great shot.
The dunk helped hometown favorite Jordan beat rival Dominique Wilkins in the contest, believed by many to be the greatest NBA aerial duel of all time.
