Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 and 17-70mm f/2.8-4 lenses coming for Sony and Pentax mounts, too

Late last week, we reported on availability of Sigma's impressive new 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens, the world's first f/1.8 constant aperture zoom. With an aggressive pricetag of just US$800 or so, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 has quickened the pulses of Canon and Nikon shooters alike, and those of you who were quick to get your preorders in will likely be out shooting your new lenses within the next few weeks. The Sigma-mount variant, too, will be available from early July.
But what of Pentax and Sony shooters? You'll have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the constant-aperture goodness, but not too much longer it seems. IR affiliate partners Adorama and B&H are both now listing the 18-35mm f/1.8 for preorder in Pentax and Sony-mount trim, and according to B&H, availability is currently slated for late July.
Regardless of the mount variant, we're expecting backorders to continue for the foreseeable future. This is going to be a very popular lens, and rightly so -- our pre-production sample blew us away, as you'll see over on IR sister site SLRgear.com. If you don't want to wait any longer than you have to, we highly recommend getting your order in now.
And if you'd prefer something with a little more zoom range at the expense of the bright constant-aperture, there's good news on another front for Sony and Pentax shooters. Sigma Japan has also revealed that it is planning to ship its 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro HSM lens in your mounts. Availability is set for the end of June on that optic in Japan; other markets may vary.
