G-Star Raw is an extremely fashionable (and more than a little expensive) brand of designer denim, that's made a bit of a reputation for itself with crossovers and collaborations outside of the world of fashion. The company's newest team-up is with Leica, and while it gives the Leica D-Lux 6 a rather nice new look, it makes an already overpriced camera even more whoppingly expensive.

The Leica D-Lux line of cameras has been widely criticized for essentially being rebranded versions of various Panasonic LX models, just with a Leica dot and an added pricetag. The Leica D-Lux 6 for instance, goes for almost $800, is a minor tweak on the Panasonic LX7, which goes for just half that. The Leica D-Lux 6 ‘Edition by G-Star RAW’ adds another designer to the mix, giving the camera an (admittedly handsome) new textured front, some branding, and a very swanky looking new carrying case.

While this might not be a whole new body over an existing camera, like what Hasselblad has done with the Lunar, but it's interesting enough that the Leica D-Lux 6 ‘Edition by G-Star RAW’ has received coverage on style blogs like HypeBeast, High Snobiety, and Sportswear International.

We admit that the G-Star touch does make the D-Lux look pretty fantastic. But at what cost? According to the Phoblographer, it'll set you back more than $1300. That's right, an almost $1000 premium over the LX7. That's a pretty big hike for looking stylish.
