A fashion shoot with a smartphone? Check out how the Nokia Lumia 1020 performed in this studio session.

We've already seen the Nokia Lumia 1020 in the hands of nature and street photographers -- and now Nokia has taken the smartphone into another classic photography environment: the studio. Nokia's Ari Partinen and Marko Saari composed and photographed a full fashion shoot, using the Nokia Lumia 1020 as their camera.
The real meat of the shoot is about the studio was set up. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has a built-in xenon flash, which was used to trigger the external flashes. However, like many other small cameras, it has a pre-flash that would trigger the lighting rig too early. It looks like they turned to an external flash like this that can ignore pre-flashes to illuminate at just the right time. Unfortunately, the blog post from Nokia doesn't reveal an awful lot more about how they set up the system, so we can't delve into more detail. But apparently the images were edited in Photoshop CS6 and Nokia Creative Studio, so be aware the photos aren't straight out of camera.
The final images they come up with are pretty good though, and definitely more-than-respectable for a smartphone camera.
