Up until now, free app Instagram has enjoyed an advertising free. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time until this changed. Instagram has announced its official plans to start rolling out ads, and while they're not technically meant to appear for a couple of months, some users are already reporting seeing them.

In an Instagram blog post, the company said:

We have big ideas for the future, and part of making them happen is building Instagram into a sustainable business. In the next couple months, you may begin seeing an occasional ad in your Instagram feed if you’re in the United States. Seeing photos and videos from brands you don’t follow will be new, so we’ll start slow. We’ll focus on delivering a small number of beautiful, high-quality photos and videos from a handful of brands that are already great members of the Instagram community.

The ads will just show up as a post on your Instagram feed, and according to the blog post, if you don't like what you're seeing, you'll be able to hide the offending advertisements, and provide feedback on what you didn't like. So autoplaying Instagram videos of people screaming "TACO BELL" at the top of their lungs should hopefully not happen.

Even though the statement officially says the ads will roll out in the "next couple of months", at least one user has reported seeing them already. And naturally, he posted video proof to Instagram:

Have any of our readers seen ads from companies they don't follow pop up in their Instagram feed yet? Let us know in the comments!
