Ever find yourself wishing your GoPro Hero3 or Hero3+ camera had better battery life? You're not alone -- GoPro creator Woodman Labs recognizes this with its Battery BacPac accessory. But there's a problem: You have to take the LCD Touch BacPac off your camera, meaning that you can't see what you're framing.

You could solve that by pairing the camera to your smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi, but that slashes your battery life, and means twice as many gadgets to keep track of. Now, a new camera cage from Photography & Cinema comes to the rescue, offering the ability to power your GoPro camera off a standard Canon LP-E6 battery pack.

The Tehkron CagePro will automatically drop power from the 7.2-volt battery pack down to levels suitable for USB power supply, allowing for charging of the GoPro's internal battery from the external pack. According to Photography & Cinema, the result is a battery life of more than five hours capture on a single charge.

The CagePro also brings another benefit: a 62mm threaded filter ring that lets you mount accessory filters. With this, you can cut glare using a circular polarizer, or reduce shutter speeds with a neutral density filter. And if you like shooting handheld, especially with the camera low to the ground, there's also an optional top-mounted handle which makes the CagePro even more versatile.

It looks like a pretty cool product, and although it's not an impulse buy, at US$150 (or US$180 with the handle), it's not prohibitively expensive, either.
