With the iPhone being one of the most popular picture-taking devices, we see a lot of accessories being made for it with the goal of boosting its usability. One such item is the Pocket Tripod, which is a foldable iPhone stand that actually fits in your wallet's credit card compartment.

Thanks to its clever design, it can be folded into the form factor of a credit card, so that you can always have it with you in case you need it. When unfolded, it can hold an iPhone in either portrait or landscape orientation, and it can be tilted 90° so you can bring your iPhone in any desired position. It also comes with its own instructional iPhone app that explains how it works -- though it's really pretty straightforward.

The really cool part about this stand is that it's so small and so versatile. While it may not replace a proper tripod out in the field, it should prove very useful once there is an even surface that it can be put up on, such as a table or the trunk of a tree. It will help stabilize the iPhone when taking pictures, recording video or shooting continuous frames for a time-lapse, for example. And since it fits in a wallet, there's really no excuse to not having it with you, which is not possible with many other comparable accessories due to size.

The Pocket Tripod (which isn't really a tripod per se) has its own website here, where it can also be pre-ordered for US$ 29.95. As always with Kickstarter-funded items, regular orders should start shipping once all Kickstarter backers have received their copies.
