People who jumped on board with the Sony A7 and A7r at launch have been left pretty short on options when it comes to native Full Frame lenses. But Chinese lens and adapter makers Mitakon have been working on a 50mm f/0.95 lens for the camera, and the first sample images from the lens have just popped up.

Keep in mind, this lens hasn't been officially announced yet, and apparently won't be unveiled for a few months yet. But the thread on fengnaoi is dozens of pages long, and contains tens of pictures scattered throughout it from the photoshoot with the lens. Unfortunately, Google Translate is only good enough to give us a vague idea of what's being said. But it seems that all of the images were shot using in-camera JPEG, and there are a handful of D800 comparison shots sprinkled in to give a feel for how another camera handles the same situation. Later on in the thread, there are some outdoor shots as well, to give a feel for natural light.

While the photos themselves are almost all massively scaled down, there are a couple of 100% crops (we've included one below), which, to put it bluntly, don't exactly wow us. But given that this is from a lens that hasn't even been announced yet, we're willing to give some latitude. For what's bound to be a relatively affordable, extremely fast lens, the images really do look pretty good. But we'll wait until we find out an official price before we really judge if the image quality is up to how much you'll have to spend.
