The HTC M8 smartphone has been one of the most heavily leaked devices in recent memory, and has garnered a lot of interest due to its unique dual lens configuration. Now, the newest leak in the form of an early advertisement shows that not only will this device be called the HTC One, but that also exactly what the "duo camera" will be used for.
According to the leaked ad, which is for Australian carrier Telstra, the two camera setup is called "duo camera", and will let you "choose where to focus, highlight what you love, soften backgrounds, and add 3D effects."
It sounds like most of these effects will be use the two lenses focusing on different areas, allowing you to focus after the fact, use selective coloring on one area, boost bokeh, or go 3D—but similar features have popped up in single lens cameras of late, like the Samsung S5, or Nokia's Refocus tool.
Other companies are working on more advanced dual lens features, like using them for two separate focal lengths. Hopefully, the HTC One will bring something more to the table than just some minor editing tweaks. We'll know for sure when the smartphone becomes official, which is set to happen on March 25th.
