Recently, Canon announced that it had produced its 100 millionth EF lens since the introduction of its EOS SLR camera system back in 1987 – only about a year after hitting the 90 million EF lenses milestone in May 2013. To celebrate that event, the company interviewed a handful of its ambassadors about their respective EF lenses of choice. In addition, Canon features each ambassador's favorite photograph taken with that lens, as well as their EF lens recommendations.

The resulting selection of the Canon ambassadors' favorite lenses aren't exactly a surprise (hint: you won't find non-L glass here), but neatly summarize the unique challenges in photographing different subjects. The 500mm f/4L IS USM got the nod from one wildlife photographer, while the 200-400 f/4L IS with 1.4x extender got the nod from 3 photographers: wildlife and motorsports shooters both. The venerable 35mm f/1.4L and 50mm f/1.2L were chosen by a wedding photographer and a photojournalist, while the 24-70mm f/2.8L were most loved by two other photojournalists.

Even if you don't shoot with Canon gear, the choices of each ambassador, their favorite pictures taken with the lens and commentary on their photography makes for an inspiring read. Get the full story here.
